Wine&Rakija tasting on the Holy mountain
Indulge in the divine flavours of wine & rakija, amidst breathtaking scenery
Service Description
Although first recorded wine makers of the region were Illyrian tribes of the pre Roman period, it is the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius Probus who gets the credit for the expansion of viticulture in the 3rd century A.D. He brought wine from the south of Italy and started planting it close to his birth place. Tradition was carried on by all the peoples that inhabited the area and with brief interruptions continues until today. Favourable climate and proximity of the Danube River create a very special environment in which grapes succeed better and give more fruit than in neighbouring wine regions. There are over sixty wineries at Fruska Gora, but we have specially chosen three for you. All three are considered to be the most representative ones in their category. So you will have a chance to enjoy the wine and atmosphere of small family run wineries to big wine makers that market and sell their product even far away beyond Serbian borders.
